In recent years, a more increased focus has been needed for all of us to operate in an environmentally responsible way. To help identify and manage the environmental impacts within Group 2000, we have set up a Group 2000 Environmental Management System (EMS), which not only helps us to manage these impacts but also allows us to clearly track progress within clear defined sustainability goals.

For those who are new to the subject, an EMS is a comprehensive framework that exists of a set of policies, processes, and practices that enables an organization to reduce its environmental impact and also helps to improve efficiency as well. Ultimately implementing such an EMS improves sustainability and also helps to reduce recurring costs. Our EMS also allows us to comply with environmental regulations, ensuring that we minimize any regulatory risk. By doing so, we are also able to comply with and contribute towards our customers' environmental requirements as part of the supply chain.

We do not only set up goals for ourselves, but our goals help in our commitment to a better future for generations to come. We, therefore, have selected clear goals that include reducing negative impacts such as pollution, waste, and energy consumption, ultimately reducing a negative impact on climate change itself.

Group 2000 has integrated its own EMS into other existing frameworks, such as our Quality Management System (QMS) and our Information Security Management System (ISMS), so that we have a controlled way of identifying risks and improvements as well as a way of tracking progress made during the year.

Group 2000 has set out some ambitious goals for 2023, first covering a wide range of facility improvements which includes a realization of a reduction of electricity and gas consumption by at least 50% this year. Not only does this have a positive impact on our environmental footprint, it also saves money and improves efficiency as well. To achieve these goals, we have chosen to invest in future-proof and sustainable methods such as improved isolation, solar panels, led lighting, and other smart technologies within our facilities based in Almelo, the Netherlands.

During our quarterly management reviews, we evaluate the progress as part of the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. This way, we are able to assess new risks, new improvements and track if the actions taken are effective in a timely manner. The EMS helps us stay focussed on our continuous improvements on where we stand with regard to our environmental performance, and that’s how Group 2000 takes responsibility for contributing to a more safe and healthy world.
