Sometimes an idea for a LIMA solution or LIMA product springs to mind that may potentially solve an existing problem. In order to understand what is needed to implement this idea and to know whether it is feasible, the idea needs to be further examined. This starts with understanding the essence of the idea: What is it that you are trying to achieve, are there existing solutions or tools that can be used and can the idea be provided as part of our existing LIMA solutions. The next step is to gather and define the requirements for the solution, both functional and non-functional. The idea for the LIMA solution is then broken down in functional parts, defining at a high level how the product is supposed to work and how the parts interact to achieve the desired functionality. This is laid down in the high-level design:  the architecture document of the solution.

When most thoughts have solidified the implementation can start that involves coding, testing, reviewing and may require to iterate back to earlier phases when new insights are gathered. And at the end, when all requirements are met, the product is finished.
